--

Mr. Bradley admitted the breach of the rule.

--

Mr. Sanders played the videos of the incident which showed Mr Bradley allowing his mount to shift off the rail into the line of Mr David Walsh who in turn pushed out causing interference to two horses on his outside with Merrymaker (R.Jones) being particularly affected.

--

Mr. Bradley has had two careless riding charges within the last 12 months, these being
28/3/09 Manawatu 6 day suspension         $1500.00 fine
20/12/09 Manawatu 2 weeks suspension   $2000.00 fine

--

In relation to penalty Mr. Sanders said that he expected Mr. Bradley to show more due consideration to other riders particularly today when conditions were so poor. Although not a black type race it was a premier day and he submitted that a suspension in the vicinity of five days was appropriate.

--

Mr. Bradley acknowledged that he had moved across when not the required distance clear of Mr. Walsh, which is why he admitted the breach, but he said it was only a horse width and there were contributing factors. It was his opinion that the outside horses moved in a little as well which, combined with the domino effect, made the interference more severe.

Penalty

--

In coming to a decision on penalty the committee considered all of the submissions put before it including the fact that Mr. Bradley admitted the breach.
Taking into account the large number of rides that he has we considered Mr. Bradley’s riding record very good.
We also had regard to the stake of the race ($35,000) and the degree of interference which involved a number of horses.

--

Mr. Bradley is suspended from the close of racing today, Saturday May 23rd until the close of racing on Sunday May 31st. We accept that Mr. Bradley rides right across the country therefore this suspension equates to five riding days.
