Following the running of race 1, the Speight's Trot, a protest was lodged by the Stipendiary Stewards against 2nd placing being awarded to HAZEL MAUD on the grounds that it broke over the final stages of the race and was lapped on to the 3rd placed SUMMA SONG.

--At the commencement of the hearing Mr D Butt (the driver of HAZEL MAUD) advised that he had been appointed to represent the connections of the horse.
--Mr Butt was in agreement that HAZEL MAUD was lapped on to SUMMA SONG and acknowledged that he did not wish to contest the protest.
--The committee viewed the films of the final stages of the race together with the photo finish print and these confirmed that HAZEL MAUD had broken some 50m from the finish of the race, and when the finish was reached was lapped on to SUMMA SONG.
--Therefore the committee finds that HAZEL MAUD be relegated behind SUMMA SONG, with the amended placing's now being;
