Following Race 3 an Information was filed pursuant to Rule 876(1) when it was alleged by Mr Coles Stipendiary Steward that AWESOME KING placed 2nd by the Judge interfered with the chances of KISSY MULLINS placed 3rd by the Judge.

DECISION & REASON:
--Following Race 3 an Information was filed pursuant to Rule 876(1) when it was alleged by Mr Coles Stipendiary Steward that AWESOME KING placed 2nd by the Judge interfered with the chances of KISSY MULLINS placed 3rd by the Judge. The margin between 2nd and 3rd was one and three-quarter lengths. All connections were advised of the Protest. AWESOME KING was represented by Trainer Mr R Autridge and Rider Mrs M Innes. KISSY MULLINS was represented by Mr K Pender and Rider Mr C Lammas.
----Mr Oatham gave evidence and demonstrated the incident on the race videos. He stated that AWESOME KING moved out and dictated the line of KISSY MULLINS causing a sharp check to that horse approximately 80 metres from the finish. He said KISSY MULLINS lost momentum and was finishing quickly.
----Mr Pender, representing KISSY MULLINS, adopted Mr Oatham's evidence and was in no doubt KISSY MULLINS would have finished at least 2nd.
----Mr Lammas, rider of KISSY MULLINS, said he suffered a bad check, was finishing strongly at the time and in his opinion would have finished at least 2nd.
----Mrs Innes, rider of AWESOME KING, said her mount ducked out and claimed the interference happened only four strides from the line.
----DECISION:
--The Committee is satisfied that there was interference caused by AWESOME KING when it moved out sharply into the line of KISSY MULLINS approximately 80 metres from the post.
----We are further satisfied that the chances of KISSY MULLINS of finishing in a better place were affected.

In exercising our discretion we take into account the interference occurred approximately 80 metres from the post. It was evident KISSY MULLINS suffered a severe check which resulted in loss of momentum when finishing strongly. Also considered was the margin of one and three-quarter lengths between 2nd and 3rd.
----Accordingly the Protest is upheld and the amended placings are:
----No. 7 MINZA DIAMOND 1st
--No. 2 KISSY MULLINS 2nd
--No. 6 AWESOME KING 3rd
--No. 1 TIME WARP 4th
