--This is an information instigating a protest lodged by Stipendiary Steward Mr J. Muirhead against BROOKFIELD TALENT driven by Mr G. Robb and placed third by the judge on the grounds that the horse was not in its correct gait when its nose reached the finishing line and was lapped on by two other horses namely MATTICHIELLO and JACCKA HERBS.

--This is an information instigating a protest lodged by Stipendiary Steward Mr J. Muirhead against BROOKFIELD TALENT driven by Mr G. Robb and placed third by the judge on the grounds that the horse was not in its correct gait when its nose reached the finishing line and was lapped on by two other horses namely MATTICHIELLO and JACCKA HERBS.
--Mr D. Chandler trainer of BROOKFIELD TALENT endorsed the information ‘I do not contest protest’. He also told Mr Muirhead he did not wish to be present at the hearing.
--Mr Muirhead showed the film of the incident. BROOKFIELD TALENT was clearly not in its correct gait when its nose reached the finishing line and also it was clearly lapped on by the other two horses.
--The Rule is mandatory and requires BROOKFIELD TALENT to be relegated to immediately behind the other two horses. BROOKFIELD TALENT is so relegated. The final placings then being:
--1st – CC STAR
2nd – WAIPAWA LORD
3rd – MATTICHIELLO
4th – JACCKA HERBS
5th – BROOKFIELD TALENT
6th – ARDEN MAJOR
