--

Following race 1 an information was lodged by Stipendary Steward Mr J P Oatham pursuant to rule 871(1)(d) when he alleged that Miss L Cheshire committed a breach of that rule in that near the 900m she did permit PIAFFE to shift in when not clear, crowding FIREFOX ( L Callaway), MISS SUFFRAJET ( M Du Plessis),LITTLE LUCAS ( C Lammas),causing FIRE FOX, LITTLE LUCAS, and MISS SUFFRAJET to check.

--

Miss Cheshire admitted the charge.

--

Mr T Treweek showed the video where soon after the start Miss Cheshire, who had drawn barrier 5 at the start, was seen to move her mount, PIFFE, across to take up a position on the rails. It was clear that she was never the required distance clear of those inside her and consequently they were checked.

--

As Miss Cheshire has admitted the charge we only have to determine the penalty.

--

Mr Oatham informed us that Miss Cheshire had not been charged for 18 months although, because of injury, she had not been riding all of the time. He did ask for a suspension as he considered the offence was on the higher end of the scale.

--

Miss Cheshire had nothing to add.

--

The committee agrees that the offence is worse than the normal charge.

--

After considering her good record, her admission of guilt, and that she will be missing a Premier race day, we suspend her from riding from the conclusion of racing on 8 February till 17 February 2007
