Following the running of Race 4, the Craddocks Airport Car Storage Mobile Pace, an information was filed by Stipendiary Steward Mr S. P. Renault against Mr K. M. James, the driver of “Wrong Way Lannigan” (4), alleging that he had committed a breach of Rule 869(2)(a) in that he used his whip excessively.

Following the running of Race 4, the Craddocks Airport Car Storage Mobile Pace, an information was filed by Stipendiary Steward Mr S. P. Renault against Mr K. M. James, the driver of “Wrong Way Lannigan” (4), alleging that he had committed a breach of Rule 869(2)(a) in that he used his whip excessively.
--Mr James had indicated on the information that he admitted this breach of the Rule and that he did not wish to attend the hearing.
--Stipendiary Steward Mrs K. R. Williams gave evidence and used video coverage to show that Mr James had used his whip on about 28 occasions over the final stages.
--Penalty:
--In relation to penalty Mr Renault advised that Mr James had no relevant previous convictions, and as he had admitted the breach a fine of $200-00 was recommended. We were satisfied that a fine of $200-00 was appropriate in this case, and accordingly Mr James was fined the sum of $200-00.
