The information charged Junior Horseman Mr S LAWSON with striking the sulky wheel of GOD KNOWS causing his own horse WILDEE to break with approximately 1100 metres to run

The information charged Junior Horseman Mr S LAWSON with striking the sulky wheel of GOD KNOWS causing his own horse WILDEE to break with approximately 1100 metres to run

Mr Lawson appeared supported by Mr R Lawson and admitted the charge

--

Mr Taumanu referred to video footage of the race which showed Mr Lawson coming out and the horses leg folding up as a result of striking the sulky wheel of GOD KNOWS. This resulted in his horse losing all chance in the race.

Mr Lawson was open and forthright with the Stewards and openly admitted his fault.

--

Mr Lawson Senior outlined a number of mitigating circumstances including that the horse was headstrong in nature and very difficult to drive.

Mr Taumanu asked for a fine of $200 at the lowest or a two day suspension taking into account his co-operation with the enquiry and the nature of the breach.

Mr Lawson Senior conceded the penalty requested was fair and asked for a discount for his early admission and lack of experience. A fine was preferred to suspension.

Taking all matters in account including the minor nature of the breach and the submissions from both parties Mr Lawson Junior is fined $200.00.
