| -- An Information instigating a protest was lodged by Stipendiary Steward, Mrs KR Williams, on behalf of the horse BLUECHIP HOLMES driven by Mr I Brownlee, placed 5th against TUFFERY driven by Mr G Robb, and placed 4th, on the grounds of TUFFERY breaking from its gait in the concluding stages of the race and causing interference to BLUECHIP HOLMES, and also on the grounds that TUFFERY was not in its correct gait at the finishing line and was lapped on by BLUECHIP HOLMES. Mr Robb represented the connections of BLUECHIP HOLMES and said that he did not wish to contest the protest. The committee viewed the film of the race and also the photo finish and were satisfied that the protest was properly made out and relegated TUFFERY to 5th placing and promoted BLUECHIP HOLMES to 4th placing. ----
