After race 4 Stipendiary Steward Mr Coles filed an information pursuant to Rule 530(2)(b) in that Mr M Williamson was charged that he used the whip in an improper manner prior to the start.
| -- DECISION & REASON: --After race 4 Stipendiary Steward Mr Coles filed an information pursuant to Rule 530(2)(b) in that Mr M Williamson was charged that he used the whip in an improper manner prior to the start. He pleaded guilty. ----Mr Coles explained the circumstances and the problems Mr Williamson had with his mount LONG HITTER. Mr Williamson was dislodged from the mount in the birdcage which then continued to be unsettled and fractious on the way to the start. As the horse approached the starting stalls it showed reluctance to go further. After failing to succeed with the control of the horse Mr Williamson was observed to strike the horse in an improper manner. Mr Williamson said he had been warned that the horse could be difficult to control and this was confirmed by the horse's attendant. ----After taking all matters into consideration the Committee imposed a fine of $300. |
