Michelle Northcott failed to ride her mount MR FAST out over the concluding stages when in 3rd place, subsequently losing that position as a result. A breach of Rule 866(1)(C).

--Miss Northcott indicated that she understood the rule.
--Stipendiary steward Goodwin, using the available films, informed the committee that MR FAST was clearly in 3rd place and believed it would have finished in3rd place but for Miss Northcott not riding her mount out. He told the committee that the stake money difference between 3rd and 4th was $350.00.
--Miss Northcott agreed her actions in not riding her mount out did cost the connections. She got tired over the final stages and stood up. The incident on film did not look good and she was annoyed with herself. She certainly was aware of her obligations as a rider.
--Mr Goodwin asked for a penalty of suspension. He felt that consistency of penalty under this rule was important and pointed to recent charges. He conceded that recent charges under this rule were not breached by amateur riders. It was Miss Northcott’s first offence under this rule but stake and the betting public money was involved.
--Miss Northcott confirmed to the committee her intention to ride in the amateur series which still had a period of time to run. She only rode in amateur races.
--DECISION AND REASON
In coming to our decision to impose a period of suspension for this breach we have taken into account your guilty plea and your obvious disappointment in you actions. Although this was your first offence under this rule the betting public was denied some monetary return by your lack of vigor over the final stages of the race and the connections did lose stake money.
This committee suspends you from race riding from the completion of racing today, 30 July, until the completion of racing on Saturday 29 August.
