DECISION & REASON:
--Following Race 1 an information was filed by Stipendiary Steward J P Oatham pursuant to Rule 530(2)(b) when it was alleged that JC Collett used the whip excessively on his mount STONEWASHED.
----Mr Collett admitted the charge.

--Mr W. Robinson demonstrated the video where he showed Mr Collett using the whip for at least 14 continuous strikes soon after they entered the straight, and before the 200metre mark. He said that the guide line is for no more than 6 continuous strikes. Because of Mr Collett's admission of guilt the committee is only required to adjudicate on penalty.
----Mr Oatham asked for a suspension at the lower end of the scale.

Mr Collett said that although he admitted the charge he was told by the connections to ride it hard. He said he was doing his best for the owner and punters.
----After taking into account all factors we suspend Mr Collett from riding from the conclusion of racing on 7 April till the conclusion of racing on 12 April (3 days).
