| -- An information instigating a protest lodged by Stipendiary Steward Mr T. Taumanu on behalf of LYELL CREEK driven by Mr A. Butt, placed 11th against LANSON driven by Miss N. Thorn, placed 10th - on the grounds of interference with about 600m left to run. Miss Thorn on behalf of the connections of LANSON endorsed the information - "I do not contest the protest". Mr Taumanu demonstrated the incident by use of the video film. LANSON broke and came back on LYELL CREEK causing that horse to also break and lose a considerable amount of ground. ----DECISION AND REASONS: ----The Committee was satisfied by the evidence given and the admission by Miss Thorn that the protest was properly made out. Accordingly the Committee exercised its discretion under Rule 869(8) and relegated LANSON to immediately behind LYELL CREEK. ----The final placings then to be: ----8th - MARIE WISHES --9th - CASTLETON?S MISSION --10th - LYELL CREEK --11th - LANSON --12th - STIRLING KIWI |
