Following the running of Race 6, the Redpaths Waitaki Trot, a protest was lodged by Stipendiary Steward Mr N Ydgren into the 5th placing of horse, no. 9, ZANDARA, driven by junior reinsman, Mr A Shand, asserting that over the final 100 metres, ZANDARA galloped and failed to promptly regain its gait.
--Mr Shand, acting as stable representative, did not contest the protest and did not attend the hearing.
--Video evidence confirmed the distance ZANDARA galloped, using the track marker guides.
--We therefore disqualify horse no. 9, ZANDARA.
--Judges placings 15, 10, 16, 8, 9, 5 amended to 15, 10, 16, 8, 5.
