Decision:
Following the running of Race 4 an information was filed by trainer Mr R. Priscott seeking a ruling as to whether Horse No 14 Mae Ling was denied a fair start.
Following the running of Race 4 an information was filed by trainer Mr R. Priscott seeking a ruling as to whether Horse No 14 Mae Ling was denied a fair start. Mr Priscott said that Mae Ling was a front running mare and that they were going to race near the pace but due to the slow opening of his gate, the horse was prevented from doing so.
--Mr Sweeney said that the horse in the stall next to him reared up and fell backwards prior to the start, and in doing so may have damaged the stalls in some way.
--Mr Coles, in demonstrating the video, showed clearly that the gates on No. 2 stall were slow in opening. Stipendiary steward Mr J. Oatham stated, in his opinion, it was clear to see that the horse had been denied a fair start.
--DECISION
--After considering all evidence the Committee is in no doubt that Mae Ling was denied a fair start and therefore is declared a non runner.
