Mr Goodwin lodged an information alleging rider Mr S Fieldes allowed his mount (College Quest) to shift outwards over the final stages causing Secret Magic (M Walker) to check.

The committee viewed the video films demonstrated by Mr Goodwin. The stewards concern in this incident was that when College Quest started it’s outward movement, S Fields was aware of the movement but kept riding his mount out with vigour and not making enough of an attempt to straighten and when contact is made S Fields is still pushing his mount forward. The result of this incident as we already know is a change of placings.

Mr Goodwin presented a good riding record for S Fieldes who does not have a previous charge this year, however this was quite a severe case of interference and there was a change of placings and seek a suspension of no less than six days.
--Mr Marshment stated with the horses head twisted Mr Fieldes was trying to straighten his mount.

Decision
--In reaching their decision the committee have taken into account the good riding record of S Fields and his admittance of the breach. It is clear that S Fields continued to ride his mount out making contact with Secret Magic resulting in a case of severe interference and impose a term of suspension from the close of racing on Sunday 16th March up to and including Sunday 28th March (7 days)
