Under rule 871 (1) (d) Stipendiary Steward Mr S C Ching alleged that Miss T Newton rider of MISS SIRRAH allowed her mount to shift ground inwards when not clear

Under rule 871 (1) (d) Stipendiary Steward Mr S C Ching alleged that Miss T Newton rider of MISS SIRRAH allowed her mount to shift ground inwards when not clear causing a check to PROFILE LAD ridden by Miss J Morris, at the 800 metres.
--Miss Newton admitted the charge so we find the charge proven. Video evidence was shown. It was stated that MISS SIRRAH was racing greenly early but was travelling kindly at the time of the incident. Mr Ching said Miss Newton did not move a lot but took the line of Miss Morris' horse. She was not a length plus a length clear as required and as a result Miss Morris's horse clipped Miss Newton's horse's heels.
----Submissions as to penalty were heard. Mr Ching said she had had a break from riding but had been back nearly a year and had no charges under this rule. However, rider safety had been compromised and while giving credit for her early admission and good record he asked for a suspension.
--Miss Newton said she would prefer a fine but if suspended asked for a deferral for 7 days as she had 4 good rides at Riccarton on 7th September. Mr Ching had no objection to this.
--PENALTY
--We suspend Miss Newton's riding licence for 2 days commencing after racing finishes on 7 September 2007 up to and including 21 September 2007.
