Information No. 68003 filed by Stipendiary Steward, Mr S P Renault, following the running of Race 6, Sealord New Zealand Handicap Trot, alleged that Licensed Public Trainer, Mr D J Anderson, “as the trainer/driver of THRILL SEEKER failed to affix the pull down blinds so as not to malfunction”.
--Mr Anderson had signed the Statement by the Defendant on the information form indicating, firstly, that he admitted the breach and, secondly that he did not wish to be present at the hearing of the information. The charge was found proved accordingly.
--Rule 864 provides as follows:
(2) Every horseman, owner, trainer and assistant thereof shall with regard to that horse ensure that:-
(d) all gear is correctly applied and/or affixed so as not to malfunction or come adrift.
Mr Renault informed the Committee that it was observed that, following the Race, the off-side pull down blind on THRILL SEEKER had activated, but the near side blind had not.
--Mr Renault recommended a fine of $100.
--Mr Anderson was fined the sum of $100.
