After the running of Race 1, the Forbury Life Members Trot, a protest was lodged by Stipendiary Steward Mr P T Knowles into the fourth placed horse, JOHN BARRIE (number 8) on the grounds that JOHN BARRIE broke from its gait and continued on in the break for a distance of 150 metres or greater, in breach of Rule 870 (3). Mr Knowles also sought disqualification of JOHN BARRIE under Rule 1003 (2).
--A video of the alleged incident was shown by Stipendiary Steward Mr C Allison. Horse JOHN BARRIE trotted of the mark, galloped after approximately 100 metres and continued to gallop for a distance of between 150 - 160 metres, this distance being calculated by the number of track markers JOHN BARRIE passed before settling. Track markers are spaced at a distance of 20 metres apart.
--Mr A Suddaby, representing the connections of JOHN BARRIE, accepted the distance as outlined on the race video.
--Accordingly the protest is upheld and horse JOHN BARRIE is disqualified from the race.
--Amended placings are :
