DECISION AND REASONS:

--

Following the running of Race 1, Farrington's Tavern Mobile Trot, an information was filed by Stipendiary Steward, Mr N M Ydgren, instigating a protest by COCO KID (C J De Filippi), placed 13th by the judge, against MILLBURN MICHAEL (C F Middleton), placed 4th by the judge, on the grounds of interference at the start of the race.

--

--

Mr Middleton was present at the hearing of the information and he indicated that he did not contest the protest.

--

--

Mrs K R Williams, Stipendiary Steward, showed video replays of the start of the mobile 2600 metres event. She pointed out MILLBURN MICHAEL, drawn 2 behind the mobile barrier and COCO KID drawn 2 on the 2nd line behind it. Shortly after the start, MILLBURN MICHAEL went into a break, came back and ran in onto COCO KID resulting in the latter horse breaking and losing all chance in the race. Mr De Filippi was not in a position to avoid it as he had another horse on his inside.

--

--

The Committee was satisfied that MILLBURN MICHAEL had caused interference to COCO KID and had affected the progress or chances of that horse as alleged and, of course, Mr Middleton did not contest relegation of MILLBURN MICHAEL. Accordingly, the protest was upheld and MILLBURN MICHAEL was relegated from 4th to 13th placing. Consequent upon the relegation, the amended placings for the Race are as follows:

--

--

1st 15 Solar Flash

--

2nd 5 Angel of Eden

--

3rd 8 Elrae Rock

--

4th 10 Stormy Loch

--

5th 12 Pedragon
