--This is an adjourned inquiry at the Avondale Racecourse on the 21 February 2007, from the Auckland Racing Club meeting held on the 17 February 2007.
--The charge comes pursuant to Rule 856(1), 858(1) & 523(3).
--The Informant, Mr A Coles, alleged that Mr C Ormsby, rider of the eighth placed horse, KENADAAD, failed to weigh-in.
--Mr Ormsby subsequently admitted the charge.
--Mr Coles pointed out that the first nine horses were required to weigh-in in that $250 was the stake for eighth placing. He believed it was an innocent mistake by Mr Ormsby as he did not hear the call and that the penalty could be handled by way of a fine.
--Mr Scott said that Mr Ormsby finished eighth out of nine, so it was unusual to have to weigh-in finishing in that position.
--Mr Ormsby said he did not hear the call and indeed walked past the scales and no one said anything to him.
--Penalty:
--The Committee considered all submissions and before imposing a penalty pointed out to Mr Ormsby it was his obligation to determine his weigh-in requirements. Accordingly, the committee imposed a fine of $250 and disqualified KENADAAD, and ordered Mr Ormsby's riding fee to be forfeited.
