Stipendiary Steward Mr J OATHAM laid an Information charging Jockey Mr A Ihaka with failing to make weight for SKIDBY in Race 1.
----
Mr Ihaka admitted the breach and appeared for the Hearing.
----
Mr Oatham told the committee that approximately ¾ hour before race time it was discovered that Mr Ihaka would not make the required weight for SKIDBY, being overweight by 1.5 kgs.
----
Trainer Mr M Faber confirmed that Mr Ihaka had been engaged to ride at the book weight of 65 kgs.
----
There being no other rider available on course, apart from scratching SKIDBY the only option was for Mr Ihaka to ride which was a less than desirable option.

Mr Ihaka could offer no explanation.

Mr Oatham in submissions on penalty told the committee that in the previous jumping season Mr Ihaka had 3 charges under the same rule. It was important that Mr Ihaka did not accept rides for weights that he could not achieve. He sought a fine in the region of $200 to $250.

Mr Ihaka had no submissions in respect to penalty.

The Committee having view of the JCA guidelines and taking into account the guilty plea as well as the three previous breaches of the same rule ordered a fine of $250.
