Meet Title:
Hawkes Bay RI - 21 February 2008
Race Date:
2008/02/21
Race Number:
Race 4
Decision: --
Miss T Bishop, represented by Mr J Georgetti pleaded guilty to the charge that she allowed her mount Miss Krisdel to shift inwards over the concluding stages of race 4
--
Miss T Bishop, represented by Mr J Georgetti pleaded guilty to the charge that she allowed her mount Miss Krisdel to shift inwards over the concluding stages of race 4 causing Maisie Be to be tightened, then checked.
--Stipendiary steward A Ray showed the available films of the alleged incident.
--Mr Georgetti asked the committee to take into account Miss Bishop’s obvious excitement in riding a winner.
--Mr A Ray in making submissions on penalty pointed out this was Miss Bishop’s first charge under this rule and that she had pleaded guilty. He believed, however that the interference was obvious and that the inside horse was tightened. He asked for a suspension of 4 days.
--Miss Bishop informed the committee that she only rode in the Central Districts area and that she would like the suspension to be deferred to enable her to ride in the Manawatu on 28 February. Mr Ray had no objection to the request.
--DECISION AND REASON
--Miss Bishop in coming to our decision to impose a period of suspension we have taken into account your guilty plea and the fact that this is your first charge under this rule.
--Excitement is a reaction that is most unwelcome on top of a horse. We considered imposing a penalty of more severity because of the degree of carelessness you showed. However, we have decided, after taking into consideration your guilty plea and the fact that this is your first charge, to suspend you from race riding after the completion of racing on 28 February until the completion of racing on 12 March (3 Central District days)
