DECISION AND REASONS:
--Following the running of Race 11, HomeSell Pace, an information instigating a protest was filed by Stipendiary Steward, Mr N G McIntyre, against LORD DUFTON (D J Butt), placed 4th by the judge, on the ground of breaking from its gait over the concluding stages and being lapped on by the 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th horses, JUST PRESIDENT, POST OPERATIVE, FARAH and COLDSTREAM respectively.
----Mr Butt, the driver and co-trainer of LORD DUFTON, had signed an endorsement on the information form to the effect that he did not contest the protest. He was not present at the hearing.
----A video replay of the concluding stages of the race was shown to the Committee. It clearly showed LORD DUFTON break from its gait prior to the finishing line and not in its correct gait when its nose reached the finishing line. Further, it clearly showed LORD DUFTON lapped on by the four runners as per the information.
----Accordingly, the protest was upheld and LORD DUFTON was relegated from 4th to 8th placing. As a consequence of the relegation, the amended placings for the race are as follows:
