R Neal filed an information alleging a breach of Rule 638(1)(d) in that C Parish the rider of La Pinniche allowed his mount to shift out over the final stages forcing Miss Curosity (T Thornton) over extra ground hampering that runner.

The rule was read and confirmed.

Mr Neal demonstrated on the films available Mr Parish in the run home shortly after straightening has T Thornton (Miss Curosity) on his outside.  Mr Parish then rides his mount out with vigour initially running straight then starts to shift out under pressure, continues to run out while being ridden with the whip.  Mr Parish has come from being approximately four horse widths off the fence to approximately seven or eight off and just short of the finish has given Ms Thornton’s mount a rather significant bump.  Mr Parish has made some attempt to straighten.

Mr Parish added he was unaware of Ms Thornton on his outside until very late in the run to the line.

The charge is proven.

Penalty

Mr Neal produced a record of three previous charges of Mr Parish’s in September 2009, December 2009 and January 2010, this being regarded as fair, rides nationally.  The interference has taken place over a significant ground and fits the mid range in careless and seek a suspension in the range of 4/6 days.  Mr Parish asked for a deferral to the 17th February 2010 as he has six engaged rides at Canterbury.

The committee have taken into account Mr Parish’s riding record, the degree of carelessness rated in mid range and Mr Parish’s admittance of the charge.

Mr Parish is suspended from the close of racing on Wednesday 17th February to the close of racing on Wednesday 24th February 2010 (5 days).
