Decision: Following Race 1 an information was filed pursuant to Rule 871 (1) (d) by the informant, Chief Stipendiary Steward Mr C George.  He alleged that Mr A Calder, rider of O’REILLY EXPRESS, permitted his mount to shift inwards approaching the winning post on the first occasion when not sufficiently clear of BOOMROCK, ridden by L Innes

Following Race 1 an information was filed pursuant to Rule 871 (1) (d) by the informant, Chief Stipendiary Steward Mr C George.  He alleged that Mr A Calder, rider of O’REILLY EXPRESS, permitted his mount to shift inwards approaching the winning post on the first occasion when not sufficiently clear of BOOMROCK, ridden by L Innes, who was forced into the line of DON ROSSINI, ridden by M Du Plessis, who was checked with SEEKNDESTROY, ridden by G McKeon, also being hampered.

Mr Calder pleaded guilty to the charge.

Stipendiary Steward Mr J Oatham demonstrated the video films and showed where soon after the start O’REILLY EXPRESS moved in and took the line of BOOMROCK when insufficiently clear, causing tightening to further runners inside.

Mr George, when asked for submissions on penalty, said that although Mr Calder had a good record, in his opinion the offence warranted a suspension of 4 – 6 days.

Mr Calder asked for the suspension to start immediately as he had no binding engagements.

The Committee considered all submissions and agreed a suspension was warranted.  Accordingly we impose a suspension to start at the conclusion of racing today, the 27th January 2008 and conclude after racing on the 2nd February (5 days).
