Following race 3 an information was filed pursuant to Rule 876(1) when it was alleged by the informant, Mr R Yuill, that COUNT ZOHRA placed first by the Judge interfered with the chances of JOYFUL LIFE placed second by the Judge.
| -- DECISION & REASON: --Following race 3 an information was filed pursuant to Rule 876(1) when it was alleged by the informant, Mr R Yuill, that COUNT ZOHRA placed first by the Judge interfered with the chances of JOYFUL LIFE placed second by the Judge. The interference occurred approximately 500 metres from the finish. --Mr Yuill and Mr Cooksley represented the informants and Mr McQuade represented the connections of COUNT ZOHRA. --The protest is lodged pursuant to Rule 876(1) and seeks relegation of COUNT ZOHRA ridden by M Coleman. --The protest alleges interference by COUNT ZOHRA against JOYFUL LIFE ridden by G Cooksley. --The official margin between first and second was a short head. --Mr R Yuill representing the connections of JOYFUL LIFE gave evidence and demonstrated the incident where COUNT ZOHRA at about the 500 metre mark moved out forcing JOYFUL LIFE out wider. Mr G Cooksley confirmed Mr Yuill's evidence and emphasized the short margin of a short head. --Mr McQuade gave evidence and stated that the incident happened a long way from the finish and was minor. He said his horse finished strongly. Mr Coleman confirmed the observations of Mr McQuade. --After considering the minor interference, the distance from the finish and the way both horses crossed the line we find that the protest be dismissed and the Judge's placings stand. ---- -- -- --
