Under rule 520 (4) (c) Stipendiary Steward Mr S C Ching alleged that Miss L Young failed to make the contracted weight for No 8, SANTA ROSA DE LIMA in race 2.
--Miss Young admitted the charge.
--As the charge is admitted it is found proved.
--Submissions as to penalty were heard. Miss Young said she had left the sauna before going to the races and thought she was OK. She felt the scales may have been incorrect but they had been checked and found to be correct to within 5/100ths.
--Mr Ching said although Miss Young had had 2 fines under this rule 8 months ago she had had an exemplary record since. He asked for a monetary fine between $200 and $500. Miss Young felt that a fine somewhere in between would be correct.
--Taking into account Mr Ching's stressing that Miss Young had been meeting her weight obligations for a full eight months but also that she had 2 earlier fines under this rule we fine Miss Young $300.
