The Information alleges that J Riddell angled his mount “Barrister” out near the 250 metre mark when not clear of “La Plage” causing that horse to be checked.  Rule 871(1)(d).

--

Mr Riddell was present at the hearing and did admit the breach.

--

The rule was read and Mr Riddell acknowledged he understood same.

--

Mr Goodwin demonstrated films of the alleged incident which clearly showed Mr Riddell angle his mount out when not sufficiently clear, causing Mr Carmine to check his mount “La Plage”.

--

For his part Mr Riddell said his mount ‘Barrister” had been racing greenly, and over reacted when he went to move out.

--

Mr Goodwin said the breach was not at the top end of careless but did however in his view warrant a term of suspension.

--

When asked by the Chairman for Mr Riddell's record,  Mr Goodwin said it was very good as Mr Riddell had not been charged under this rule for 2 years, he had however had a warning on the 11th of April 09.

--

Prior to arriving at a penalty the committee took into account Mr Riddell’s very good record and his admission of the breach.

--

These factors however were outweighed by the fact he is an experienced rider and did move out when not sufficiently clear.

--

They imposed a 4 day suspension starting from the conclusion of racing on the 1/6/09 and finishing at the conclusion of racing on the 6/6/09.
