DECISION, REASON AND PENALTY
--Following the running of Race 5, the Dunedin City Ford Handicap Trot, a protest was lodged into fourth placed horse number 6 Cathy Combo, alleging that approximately 90 metres from the finish, Cathy Combo broke from its gait and failed to return to its proper gait, galloping to the finish line.
DECISION, REASON AND PENALTY

Following the running of Race 5, the Dunedin City Ford Handicap Trot, a protest was lodged into fourth placed horse number 6 Cathy Combo, alleging that approximately 90 metres from the finish, Cathy Combo broke from its gait and failed to return to its proper gait, galloping to the finish line.

Cathy Combo was thereby in breach of Rule 870(3) and the Breaking Horses Regulations.

Video footage of the incident was played by Stipendiary Steward, Mr C Allison. This shows Cathy Combo going into a break between the marker pegs set at 100 and 80 metres from the finish and continue in a break across the finish line.
----
Mr McCormick did not dispute the allegation.

Mr Knowles requested the disqualification of Cathy Combo as the horse had galloped in excess of 50 metres within the final 200 metres of the event.

The evidence is clear cut and not disputed. The protest is upheld and Cathy Combo is disqualified from the event.
