DECISION AND REASONS:
--Following the running of Race 7, Sandridge Hotel (Christchurch) Mobile Pace, an information instigating a protest was filed by Chief Stipendiary Steward, Mr N R Escott, against ROBYN BLUE (J F Curtin), placed 5th by the judge, on the ground of breaking from its gait with approximately 70 metres to run.
--Mr G P Hope, part-owner and trainer of ROBYN BLUE, signed the following endorsement on the information form:
--"I accept that the horse (Robyn Blue) galloped over the last 75 metres".
--Mr Escott showed a video replay of the final stages of the race and stated that ROBYN BLUE had been running in and its driver went to pull it out. It broke and galloped for the last 70-75 metres of the race. He sought disqualification of ROBYN BLUE from the race.
--The Committee was satisfied, on the basis of Mr Hope's acknowledgement endorsed on the information form, Mr Escott's submissions and the video replay, that ROBYN BLUE had broken from its gait within the final 200 metres of the race and had continued in a break for a distance of 50 metres or greater in breach of the Breaking Horses Regulation. The Committee was satisfied that disqualification of ROBYN BLUE was appropriate and the protest was upheld and ROBYN BLUE was disqualified accordingly.
--Consequent upon the disqualification, the amended placings for the race are as follows:
--1st 10 Tilt Ya Kilt
--2nd 9 Hopefull
--3rd 3 Jinni's Fantasy
--4th 13 Chromatic
--5th 5 Song for Ireland.
