Decision: -- Rule 869(6)(b)&(c): At the conclusion of Race 9, The MLT/Pioneer Tavern - Edendale Handicap Pace, an information was lodged by Stipendiary Steward Mr C Allison alleging that with approximately 2000m to run, SHORTYS STAR (A R Beck) shifted ground outwards forcing SECONDSTOSPARE (BD McLellan) and LORD FORBES (GR Forbes) over extra ground. Rule 869(6)(b)&(c): At the conclusion of Race 9, The MLT/Pioneer Tavern - Edendale Handicap Pace, an information was lodged by Stipendiary Steward Mr C Allison alleging that with approximately 2000m to run, SHORTYS STAR (A R Beck) shifted ground outwards forcing SECONDSTOSPARE (BD McLellan) and LORD FORBES (GR Forbes) over extra ground. It was noted Mr Beck admitted the breach. Mr Allison used several video clips to highlight the incident. Mr Beck stated that he had simply made an error of judgement in this instance. PENALTY: Mr Allison produced Mr Beck's recent driving record which showed no breaches under this rule. He also stated that Mr Beck was a senior horseman who drove regularly throughout the southern circuit. The Committee was satisfied that the offence was at the lower end of the scale and gave Mr Beck credit for his guilty plea and his previous driving record. Mr Beck was fined the sum of $200.
