In a decision of the Committee of 1 August 2020, Apprentice Jockey Ms C Burdan, the Rider of FLEURGUNDY had her Apprentice Jockey Licence suspended from the end of racing on 8 August up to and including racing on 22 August 2020 (5-Riding Days).
This penalty was imposed following a Careless Riding Charge that was admitted.
Subsequent to this penalty being imposed, the Covid-19 JCA Penalty Guide was reintroduced on 7 August 2020 effective up to the end of racing September 2020.
In essence lesser penalties will be imposed for Careless Riding, due to the racing calendar having fewer racedays.
There is the ability to recall a decision in limited circumstances, these include, where since a hearing there has been an amendment to a relevant statute or regulation.
In view of the reinstatement of the penalty guide it is appropriate that Ms Burdan’s suspension be revised against the policy criteria, as a result the suspension is now effective from 8 August up to and including 15 August 2020 (3-Riding Days).
