The Information alleges that Sky Rocket or its rider placed 4th by the judge, interfered with the chances of Sharp Melody placed 6th by the judge, the alleged interference occurred over the concluding stages of the race.

--

--

Present at the hearing were the informant jockey P Taylor rider of Sharp Melody and that horse’s trainer Mrs S Dravitzki, also the defendant Mr S Autridge, trainer of Sky Rocket, and that horse’s rider M Tanaka.

--

--

Mr Taylor showed the Committee films of the alleged incident and gave his interpretation of same.

--

--

Mr Autridge whilst conceding Mr Taylor did suffer some inconvenience, felt Mr Taylor may not have ridden his mount right out after the alleged incident, however the film was then again shown and clearly showed Mr Taylor riding with the whip after the alleged incident.

--

--

Mr Goodwin (Stipendiary Steward) for his part said the film clearly showed Mr Taylor had to stop riding for 3 to 4 strides, and this had cost his mount some ground.

--

--

The Committee were satisfied that Mr Taylor’s mount Sharp Melody had definitely been cost a higher placing by the interference from Sky Rocket and also took into account the margin by which Sharp Melody had been beaten for 5th money that margin being a Nose.     They therefore used their discretionary powers and placed Sky Rocket behind Sharp Melody the amended placings were 1-2-8-5-3-4 the Judges placings had been 1-2-8-4-5-3.
