Following Race 3 an information was filed by Mr J Oatham pursuant to Rule 871(1)(d) when it was alleged that near the 250 metres B R Jones allowed his mount DOUBLE TEE to shift out when not sufficiently clear of GOBI HERO (A Peard) and EURO CONNECTION (M Cameron) both of which had to be checked.

--

Mr Jones admitted the charge.

--

Mr A Coles demonstrated the videos. He showed where, soon after entering the straight, Mr Jones was racing on the inside. He could be seen to shift his horse outwards when not sufficiently clear and in doing so cause Mr Peard and Mr Cameron to briefly check their mounts. Mr Coles said the offence was clearly an error of judgment as claimed by Mr Jones.

--

As Mr Jones has pleaded guilty the committee has to adjudicate on penalty only.

--

Mr Oatham gave Mr Jones excellent record of no breaches of this rule in the previous 12 months. He said that in his view the offences were in the lower to mid range of seriousness.

--

Mr Jones said that he had riding engagements until 8 April.

--

In coming to its decision the committee considered all the submissions put before it. Mr Jones admission of guilt, his riding record, and the degree of interference caused by his error of judgment have been taken into account.

--

Mr Jones is suspended from race riding commencing after the finish of racing on 8 April till the finish of racing on 15 April. (4 days)
