Mr. Oatham told the committee that Mr. Ihaka shook hands with two people in the birdcage after dismounting from the winner Captain Jingle. These people had approached Mr. Ihaka who was naturally excited after winning the race however the stipendiary stewards have a no tolerance policy in regard to this rule.
--Mr. Oatham submitted that all recent cases had been dealt with by way of fines of $150.00. Mr. Ihaka had no previous breaches of this rule and had no submissions to make in regards to penalty.

--The committee took into account all of the submissions in particular the penalties relating to recent breaches of Rule 858 (1) (c) as submitted by Mr. Oatham.
