ASKMEAGAIN is disqualified, the amended placings being;

Facts:

Request for a ruling that ASKMEAGAIN be disqualified because rider Ms S Spratt failed to weigh in after the race.

 
Facts: 
Mr Coles said he watched the placed horses being unsaddled after the race. He said Ms Spratt was the first jockey to complete unsaddling and he noticed her then become involved in a discussion with Mr Yuill. He said when the jockeys had finished unsaddling; he went to the weighing in area and was informed by the Clerk of the Scales that Ms Spratt had failed to weigh in. 
 
Ms Spratt said that after unsaddling she became involved in a heated discussion with Mr Yuill. She became upset and flustered and went straight to the jockey’s room without weighing in.

Mr Coles said that he was not aware of any “extraordinary circumstances” which would avoid disqualification of ASKMEAGAIN. 
 
Mr Yuill asked for clarification of the rule and that clarification was provided by the chairman. 
 
Ms Spratt said there was no Club Official on duty to guide jockeys to the weighing scales.                       
 

Reasons for Decision:

There is no dispute that Ms Spratt failed to weigh in after the race as required by rule 647(1). Disqualification in these circumstances is mandatory unless “extraordinary circumstances” prevented the jockey from weighing in. There are no such circumstances in this case.
