Following the running of Race 1 (Aquaholics Plumbing 3yo), Information A14452 was filed with the Judicial Committee. The Informant requested a ruling as to whether BUTLER received a fair start.

Mr Jones asked the Committee to determine if BUTLER was still being held by an Assistant when the start was made.
Ms Schofer said that she was slow away, but was not aware if she was being held at the time.
The Starter said that he was not aware of anything untoward occurring and thought that the horse was just a little slow away.
Mr Sharrock said that what happened did not affect his horse’s chances.
After viewing the films several times Mr Jones said that it did appear that the Assistant had let go of the horse as the gates opened.

In the opinion of the Committee, BUTLER had been held by an Assistant, but when the start was effected, BUTLER was free to jump on terms, but was slow away of its own accord.
