Amateur Horseman Mr A Edge was charged with breaching the Push Out Rule - 869 (4) (6) (b) (c), in race 1. Mr Edge RUSSIAN EXPRESS shifted outwards forcing RAH DE RAH (G Anderson) wide with a lap to run.
Mr Edge admitted the charge.
Mr McIntyre, with the aid of the videos, pointed out the relevant positions of RUSSIAN EXPRESS and RAH DE RAH about the 1200m. He said Mr Anderson was improving three wide when Mr Edge shifted his horse out wider. Shortly after Mr Edge shifted wider again forcing Mr Anderson’s runner five wide with 1100 metres to run. He said it was the second outwards shift by Mr Edge which breached the rule.
Mr Edge stated he had not intended to shift RAH DE RAH wider the second time but had made an error.

Mr Munro stated Mr Edge had a clear record. He had had 23 drives last season and eight this season to date. He sought a five drive suspension or a fine of $250 for a first offence.
Mr Edge said he had a confirmed drive at Roxburgh on the 4th January and would prefer a fine.
Reasons for Penalty:
Mr Edge admitted the breach and has an excellent record. A fine is appropriate in this instance.
