Ms Allpress you are suspended from race riding after the completion of racing on Sunday 2nd January 2011 until the completion of racing on Wednesday 5th January 2011, three national days.
Charge:
Ms L Allpress admitted a breach of rule 638 (1) (d) in that passing the 350 metres she permitted Gofonze to shift out into the line of Informant (D Bradley) when not clear causing Informant to be checked.
Rule 638 (1) (d) reads a rider shall not ride a horse in a manner which the Judicial Committee to be careless.
Facts:
Mr Goodwin showed the available films of the incident in which Gofonze shifted out onto the line of Informant after rounding the bend. Ms Allpress failed to straighten her mount – he felt that she took one stride too many riding with a whip before taking corrective actions. He informed the committee that even although Mr Bradley’s mount was not travelling all that well at the point of the incident she did cause Mr Bradley to take hold.
Ms Allpress agreed she pulled the stick and her actions were a complete error of judgement.

Mr Goodwin informed the committee he believed the breach was in the mid to lower range. Ms Allpress is a national rider and her last suspension under this rule was 585 rides ago (28th May 2010) at Riccarton. He asked for a period of suspension.
Ms Allpress agreed that she did ride nationally and if suspended she would like the 7 day deferment to be applied as she has some important rides coming up on New Year’s Day down South. The stewards had no objection to this proposed course of action.

In coming to our decision to impose a period of suspension for this breach we have taken into account your early admission of the breach, your record which is an excellent one, and the degree of carelessness which we concur with the stewards is in the mid to low range. We have agreed to your request for a deferment as you have a busy period of riding coming up over New Year to which you have recently committed. This committee began its deliberation on penalty from the starting point of five days and we have decided to reduce by 2 days the period of suspension for the reasons outlined.
