N. Chilcott admitted a breach of rule 857 (7) (g) in that as the driver of Leroy Brogden, she failed to maintain and come up into her correct barrier position.
Submissions for Decision:
Miss. Chilcott was called up twice by the starter and on the second whistle she did come up but was approximately 6 lengths from the mobile when the race started. Leroy Brogden tracked the field until the 600 metre mark when her drive made ground around the outside; ranged up then drifted with about 200 metres to run. It was noted that Leroy Brogden was 1/1 in the betting.

It was submitted by the stewards that a fine of $200 be imposed.
Miss. Chilcott concurred with the recommendation.
Reasons for Penalty:
The committee carefully considered the recommendation of a fine of $200 for this offence. It was in our decision accepted that Miss Chilcott admitted the breach and that this was her first breach of the rule. A perusal of the penalty records indicated a maximum fine of $250 for this breach. Other breaches have ranged in the vicinity of $200.
