Meet Committee Member 1:

Race Date:
2012/09/11

Race Number:
R 3

Decision:

As the charge was admitted it was found proved.

Penalty:

Miss Dravitzki you are suspended from race riding after the completion of racing on Saturday 15 September until the completion of racing on Thursday 20 September (3 North Island days).

Charge:

Careless riding.

Facts:

Miss M Dravitzki represented by Mr K Myers admitted a charge brought under rule 638 (1) (d) in that she angled her mount (Our Great Empire) inwards shortly after the start dictating Crack A Tui (T Russell) inwards into the line of Veininsky (R Bishop) which was checked.

Submissions for Decision:

Mr Goodwin, using the available films, pointed out the incident in which Miss Dravitzki angled her mount inwards in endeavouring to move from 4 wide to one off.  He submitted that she was looking for a run close to the inside.  In doing so she allowed her horse to dictate Crack A Tui (T Russell) inwards which in turn took the line of Veininsky (R Bishop) who was checked.  Miss Dravitzki informed the committee that she was aware of Mr Russell's mount but did not see Mr Bishop's mount down on her inside.

Mr K Myers after viewing the side on film again informed the committee he believed the movement was marginal and that as a more senior jockey, Mr Russell may have used Miss Dravitzki - after all this was her first charge under the rule.

Submissions for Penalty:

Mr Goodwin (Stipendiary Steward) submitted that this was Miss Dravitzki’s first charge under the rule. She was an up and coming rider who caused the stewards no problems.  He informed the committee that he believed the incident could be classed in the medium range and that he believed a period of suspension of four days would be appropriate.

Miss Dravitzki confirmed she had race riding commitments this coming Saturday at Awapuni (15 September), was aware of the determent rule (1106) and asked for any period of suspension to begin after that.  She added that she rode only in the North Island.  Mr Myers had no comment.

Reasons for Penalty:

In coming to our decision Miss Dravitzki, to impose a penalty of suspension for this breach, we have taken into account your very good record and your admittance.  We believe the incident could be best defined as at the lower end of the scale.  However, your movement inwards did cause interference and in particular Mr Bishop's mount's line was dictated to by your actions.
