Following Race 4, an information was filed pursuant to Rule 632. The informant, Mr J Oatham requested a ruling as to whether TAURUS (V Colgan) was denied a fair start.

Mr Oatham demonstrated the incident by showing the head on and side on views of the start. He pointed out to the Committee, that the barrier gate failed to catch, and sprung back, striking TAURUS, which blundered.
The connections of TAURUS agreed with Mr Oatham’s interpretation of the video films.
Reasons for Decision:
The head on video film showed that TAURUS was clearly denied a fair start. It was noticeable that the barrier gate did make contact with TAURUS.
