Mr Oatham showed the video films of the start of the race. PETER COLADA started from barrier position five in a field of sixteen. When the field was released, the barrier gates on the stall of PETER COLADA opened but as the horse moved forward the inside gate flew back to the closed position striking PETER COLADA on the head and delaying the exit of the horse from the stall. As a result PETER COLADA was forced to settle at the tail of the field and from that point on never got into the race.
Reasons for Decision:
The video films provided clear evidence that PETER COLADA was denied a fair start and that such occurrence materially prejudiced its chances.
