Following the running of Race 4, Stipendiary Steward, Mr Dooley lodged an Information alleging that Licensed Trainer, Mr Paynter presented FREE AS AIR without the notified blinds.
Mr Paynter endorsed the Information to the effect that he admitted the Breach and did not wish to be present at the hearing.
Rule 865(2) states'Every horse entered in a Totalisator race shall be presented in the assembly area prior to the race in the same notifiable gear as that notified under sub-rule (1)'.
Mr Dooley advised that this was the 3rd occasion within the last 120 days that Mr Paynter had breached this Rule, hence requiring an Information to be presented.
Mr Dooley added that in mitigation, on 5 March 2021 Mr Paynter had horses entered at the Auckland Harness meeting. Due to COVID-19 restrictions he was unable to be with the horses and entrusted them to another trainer. That trainer had left some gear off one of his horses and Mr Paynter was charged.

Mr Dooley said that because of the mitigating circumstances referred to above the Stewards were seeking a fine of $150.

The Committee accepted that the circumstances which led to this Information being submitted were unusual and decided to deal with the matter accordingly.
