Manawatu Racing 12 February 2011 – R2
ID: JCA13835
Code:
Thoroughbred
Meet Title:
Manawatu RC - 12 February 2011
Meet Chair:
TCastles
Meet Committee Member 1:
CMcKay
Race Date:
2011/02/12
Race Number:
R2
Decision:
As the breach was admitted we find the charge proved.
Penalty:
Mr. Bradley you are suspended from race riding after the completion of racing today, the 12th of February until the completion of racing on Friday the 18th of February, 3 national days.
Charge:
Alledged breach of rule 638 (1) (D)
Facts:
Mr. D. Bradley admitted a breach of Rule 638 (1) (d) in that passing the 250 metre mark he permitted his mount ‘Hunter Street’ to shift out into the line of ‘All In Clover’ (K. Smith) which in turn shifted out causing a check to ‘Tiptoes’ (C. Johnson).
Mr. Goodwin using the available films pointed out the incident. He informed the committee that Mr. Bradley eased his mouth outwards into the gap. He did make contact with Mr. Smith's mount which in turn made contact with Mr. C. Johnson's horse.
Submissions for Penalty:
Mr Goodwin said he believed Mr. Bradley was entitled to mount his run and even though contact was made with the horse on his outside, the stewards' concern was the after effect, Mr. Smith making contact with Mr. Johnson's mount causing that horse to be checked. He classed the incident as in the mid to low range and did comment that Mr. Bradley was a little unlucky.
Mr. Bradley is classed as a national rider, he is one of the leading Central Districts jockeys and his record under this rule, considering the number of rides he undertakes, is good. His last suspension was imposed on New Year’s Day for two breaches under this rule (a total of 9 days).
Mr. Bradley had no comment.
Reasons for Penalty:
In coming to our decision to impose a period of suspension we begun our discussion from a base of 5 days.
We have classed the breach in the mid to low range and concur with Mr. Goodwin that Mr. Bradley was entitled to go for the gap – we believe it was competitive riding. The movement outwards by Mr. Smith's mount on to Mr. Johnson was unfortunately for Mr. Bradley the end result.
We also have taken into account your admittance of the breach and your record under this rule.
