Facts:
Following the running of Race 10, the Fairview Motors Cambridge Mobile Trot over 2200m, an Information was lodged instigating a protest against the horse IL PARATA which finished in 3rd place. Stipendiary Steward, Mr J Muirhead alleged that the horse had galloped excessively - more than 150m - in the early stages of the race.
The trainer of IL PARATA, Mr R Paynter indicated that he did not wish to contest the protest by noting that on the Information.
The Judges placings were:
1st - Consentual
2nd - No Go Slow Briton
3rd - Il Pirata
4th - Ventimiglia
5th - Golden Future
6th - Monk's Gal
Submissions for Decision:
Mr Muirhead identified the horse IL PARATA on the available video and pointed out that the horse had gone off-stride just after the start and had galloped for approximately 250m thereafter. Accordingly he requested that in accordance with the Breaking Horse Regulations and Rule 870(3) the horse be disqualified from the race.
Reasons for Decision:
The protest was not contested and it was clear from the video that the horse IL PARATA had galloped at least 250m after going off-stride shortly after the start.
