Charge:
That the defendant used his whip excessively in the run home when driving “Izshebad”.
Facts:
Mr McIntyre demonstrated the incident to us by use of the video camera. He pointed out how Mr Kennett had hit his horse approximately twenty four times in the run home to the finishing post.
Submissions for Penalty:
Mr Kennett did not appear at the hearing of the information. He had endorsed the information by saying that he preferred the penalty to be that of a suspension.
Mr McIntyre told us that Mr Kennett does not have a lot of drives and currently only has one horse in training. He stated that if a fine was to be imposed, he would be submitting that the level of the fine be $200.
Reasons for Penalty:
As Mr Kennett was not present, and as he had endorsed the information by stating that he preferred a suspension, it is this Committee’s decision that a suspension should be imposed.
